Cristiano Ronaldo Biography, Age, Wife, Net Worth, Career
Cristiano Ronaldo
Some athletes play the game. Only very few remake it. Cristiano Ronaldo is in that second, nearly mystical group.
Cristiano is also one of the few players who came from humble beginnings, born in a house on the Portuguese island of Madeira to no money, no privilege and no shortcuts, just hard work and determination. What he had was a love of football that became obsessive combined with a discipline rare in humans. Today, he is more than a football player; he’s the world’s most followed human, the sport’s first billionaire and arguably history’s best goal-scorer.
This Cristiano Ronaldo profile chronicles every phase of that journey: a famished Funchal boy with dreams of stardom, to a 40-year-old living legend still scoring goals in Saudi Arabia and gearing up for his own final World Cup.

Early Life and Background
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro (European Portuguese: born 5 February 1985) was born in the parish of Santo António, Funchal, a municipality and capital city in Madeira. He was the youngest of four children born to Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, a cook and cleaner, and José Dinis Aveiro, a municipal gardener who moonlighted as an equipment manager at the local football club Andorinha.
His name is “Ronaldo” in tribute to his dad’s favorite actor back as Ronaldo was born when the US president was Ronald Reagan.
Life on Madeira was not easy at all. In a small, tin-roofed house clinging to a steep hillside lived the six members of a family. Times were tough when Cristiano was growing up, and José Dinis fought against alcoholism for much of his son’s upbringing. Yet amidst the struggles, to give his life order and escape, football became the medium for young Ronaldo. From the first day he could walk, he kicked a ball.
He was already a star at Andorinha, where his father worked, by the time he turned 10. From there he went on to Clube Desportivo Nacional before coming in for a trial with Sporting Clube de Portugal one of the bigger clubs at just 12 years old and smashing it.
This expensive undertaking forced him to leave his family behind on Madeira for Lisbon. Thanks to tears that Ronaldo shed for weeks wanting him. He was alone, suffered mild bullying for his island accent and carried the enormous weight of expectation. He poured all of it into training.
Next, and most horrifically at 15, there was the news that Ronaldo had a condition known as tachycardia a racing heart which would require surgery. The procedure was performed, he was back in training days later and never looked back.
Cristiano Ronaldo Family and Relationships
Ronaldo’s family has formed the core of his identity like never before.
Maria Dolores his mother is still one of the most significant in this man life. Ronaldo’s father, José Dinis, died in September 2005 from kidney failure connected to chronic alcoholism a trauma Ronaldo has often described as debilitating throughout his career.
Ronaldo has five children. His firstborn son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. (b. 2010), was born through a surrogate. Twins Eva and Mateo came along using a surrogate in 2017. In the same year his partner Georgina Rodríguez a Spanish model he started dating in 2016 gave birth to their first child together, Alana Martina. Ronaldo and Georgina welcomed their first child together in April 2022 a daughter, Bella Esmeralda even though their twin son died during birth (an event Ronaldo shared with great emotion with the world).
Ronaldo and Georgina are engaged. This Netflix docuseries, Soy Georgina, follows their relationship and quickly became one of the platform’s most viewed Spanish-language series in the world.
Youth and Early Football Journey
It was a rapid development for Ronaldo, who joined Sporting CP youth academy in 1997. At the core of Martinez’s credentials is his technical ability and speed but it was perhaps his work ethic that set him apart from peers years older.
In August 2002, at only 17 years old, he made his senior debut for Sporting CP and only a few months later had been targeted as a potential star by several of the biggest clubs in Europe. A pre-season friendly was the with Ronaldo ripping Manchester United’s first team to shreds and leaving their players and coaching staff unable to comprehend what they had seen.
But even Sir Alex Ferguson, United’s legendary manager, was impressed enough that he signed Ronaldo there and then for £12 million before any other club made a move.

Playing Style and Strengths
Ronaldo, a right-footed forward, is completely different when compared with each other; he has switched his style of play heavily in the course of two decades.
He was a virile winger in his prime with all step-overs, tricks and raw searing pace. At that point, the way he dribbled was likened to Ronaldinho and a peak Brazilian Ronaldo. Gradually, as his body changed with age, he morphed into a much more orthodox centre-forward: not that yet another dangerous goal scorer who knew never to stray from the penalty area but rather an almost supernatural leaper and specialist in headers, one-footed shooting power and footedness.
His free kicks have been a work of art his unique knuckleball style delivered some of the greatest set-piece goals this sport has ever seen His sprint speed (34 km/h), vertical leap (78 cm equal to any NBA player) and celebrated conditioning are the result of an obsessive fitness discipline that was well in place long before he started playing rugby league at 40.
More than anything, Ronaldo’s defining trait has long been mental: an unflinching belief in himself, a refusal to accept limits and an appetite that never quieted.
