Sachin Tendulkar was born in Mumbai to a Marathi family. His father Ramesh Tendulkar was a writer and professor, while his mother Rajni worked in the insurance sector. Recognizing his potential, elder brother Ajit took him to legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar.
